My Testimony
Growing up I was your typical American teenager: obsessed with boys, clothes, and movies. Yet even when I had what I thought I wanted, I was still miserable inside. Thankfully, when I was 14, that fateful day came when my friend said to me
with love in her eyes, “Jenn, if you don’t love Jesus with all your heart, you won’t go to heaven.” This rang true in my heart and I found myself wanting to follow this Jesus and love Him. I started to read my Bible and went anywhere I might find Him and learn how to live for Him.

During this time, I can’t tell you the joy that filled my heart. I could feel His love and I knew my whole life was changing. (1 Cor. 5:17). God was like a loving Father to me and He wanted to take all the old junk out of my life. He began to point out some things in my life that were keeping me from Him. (Maybe you’ve heard of that word “sin.”) The Bible says, (Rom. 6:23). Well, I began to see that a lot of things I did with my time and money were not bringing me life. I knew that He, as the perfect Father, knew best. I began to surrender everything in my life to Him and His ways. That’s when things got exciting.

In the middle of my transformation process, God spoke to me about all my boyfriends. I’d had many and they all ended in disappointment and tears. I felt God saying to me, “Jenn, I have someone for you. If you seek me and live for me, I’ll work it all out.” Previously I had been boy crazy, so this was a big deal! However, just as He did with everything else I gave to Him, He supplied the strength to do it. So, instead of looking for a guy or trying to keep one, I sought Jesus and started to become a woman that a man who loved God would want to marry. I wouldn't change those five years for anything.

Several years after I gave up dating, I met a man from Scotland at a Discipleship camp. At first I didn't think of him as a future husband. However, after several years of watching his character, I realized that I respected him more than any young man I had ever met. Two years later, I knew without a doubt that God wanted me to marry him.
God spoke to him, too, and to other people we respected in our lives. After praying about it for nine months (never having been on a date together) he asked me to be his
wife. We’ve been married since 2006 and only God could have matched us so perfectly. (Read all the details at howascotsman.blogspot.com.)

I could tell you many stories of when I surrendered my dreams and plans to Jesus and how He took those and gave me the true desires of my heart. He is a great God! Even if He had not done one after saving me from my sins, it would still be worth following Him with all my heart because HE IS WORTHY! Out of all the amazing things He has done for me, the most important and best miracle of all is that He has saved me from my sin so I can spend eternity in Heaven with Him. And He wants to do the same thing for you, my friend. I hope you’ll seek Him first, and follow His ways. He loves you so much and wants you to walk with Him, too. You will NEVER regret it, not here in this life nor in eternity.
