Treats
Every Day Snacks
An Important Part of a Healthy Diet
I soon learned that if I wanted to stick to a diet-lifestyle this strict and different then I would need to find treats that I could eat. My husband used to say that I had a doctrine that said, "Everyone MUST have treats." Of course that is not totally true, but if you live in America and are surrounded by treats you can stick in your shopping cart or that so many people offer you for free, it is a really good idea to have your own healthy treats you can eat when you're tempted to have the ones that are bad for you. It is amazing how easy it is to go down the slippery slope. You can do so good with eating healthy and decide I'll just have one (fill in the blank) and the next thing you know you are eating that one thing every day!I found that having a variety of treats was one thing that has helped me stick to what is best for me. It started out as orange juice popsicles and air popped popcorn. Now we have found lots of really good and easy recipes for all kinds of treats. My current favorites are the popcorn and peanut butter banana ice cream.I still need self control, though, because it is easy to overeat when you know the treat is healthier. And sometimes we don't really need as many treats as we think we do. ;-) Hopefully you can get some ideas from here and I'd love to hear any of yours! Let me know if you Have any questions about any of these ideas or if you'd like the recipes.
